Shabbos Menus that Reheat Well

I read a great tip in a book called It’s About Time: The Guide to Successful Jewish Homemaking. It was a section called Shabbos Meals on the Blech.

The following are some interesting Shabbos menus you can heat up well on the Blech on Shabbos day, or even in a crock pot. I think it’s a great idea to plan foods around what will heat up well on the blech on Shabbos day. Here’s what the author suggests for Shabbos Menu ideas that are easy to throw into the crockpot or onto the blech before Shabbos:

1. Spaghetti and Meatballs- you’ll need to invert a pot on the blech in order to warm this up.

2. Shepherd’s Pie-Layer mashed potatoes and ground beef.

3. Potato Kugel with Meat- Add pieces of meat to your potato kugel recipe. Leave on the blech until Shabbos lunch.

4. Mashed Potatoes and Schnitzel

5. Bourekas

6. Meatloaf or hamburgers

7. Quiche or Vegetable Pie

8. Kugel-try pineapple, apple, strawberry, corn, broccoli, cauliflower

9. Fried or Baked Fish

Again, the thing that makes these foods unusual/special is that they are simple and can reheat well over Shabbos day so you don’t need to eat cold food!
