Shabbos To Do List

A Shabbos to do list is an important visual.

Anyone who is stressed about making Shabbos MUST have a Shabbos to do list. You must have a visual about what needs to be done and when.

Build your own list from mine and then schedule it into your week.

To-Do-List (in no particular order)

  • cook Friday night and Shabbos meals
  • Shabbos Alarm modifications
  • Make Challah
  • Clean Counters
  • Put up blech
  • Fill up hot water pot
  • set dining room table
  • Adjust AC or heat to appropriate temperature, call weather
  • Check lights in all rooms and make sure they are on or off.
  • Set timers
  • Turn crock pot on low
  • Make sure stove and oven are off
  • Make sure all food is cooked!
  • Muktzah toys put away
  • Make sure shirts are clean and ironed
  • Laundry is clean and folded
  • Set up Candles
  • Daven Mincha
  • Make beds
  • Grocery shopping done
  • Tear Paper towels, floss, tape, foil
  • Make sure there are paper plates
  • Call friends and family to wish a good shabbos!
  • Turn off Refrigerator Light
  • Take Showers, baths
  • Cut nails
  • Tissues in bathrooms
  • Rooms are clean
  • Make sure dishwasher is empty

Now, you need to schedule these tasks into your week.

I would like for you also to get more specific with a time map. List the days of the week at the top and the hours of your day going down the page. Draw squares or chunks of time and label it. Grocery shop from 9-10 on Tuesday for example. 3-4 Exercise. Try it out. You can still feel somewhat flexible on this map and color code it to get your creative fix. Here’s a sample time map.
